REAP Aotearoa was established in 1979 to address a gap in learning opportunities for rural students, and advance community development through quality lifelong education in rural Aotearoa. Since then, we have provided continuous leadership, support and guidance to 13 regional REAPs throughout the country.
With REAP Aotearoa’s support, each REAP works with its community to develop educational outcomes tailored to their needs to help learners reach their full potential.
In terms of capability, all 13 REAPs specialise in core work across:
- Early childhood education
- Compulsory schooling
- Adult and community education
- Positive parenting
- Brokerage and consultancy in education
REAPs have a diverse range of skills and expertise, which alongside their strength in partnerships, enable us to operate in many education contexts including:
- Gifted & talented education
- Truancy
- Alternative education
- Professional development
- Te Reo revitalisation
- Digital literacy
- Embedded literacy & numeracy
- Whanau learning
Local REAPs empower whānau and their communities for sustainable, intergenerational growth by working with learners from twinkle to wrinkle, boosting confidence and enhancing employability.
We break down barriers to education, making learning accessible and providing the learning and upskilling opportunities our communities need across generations.
